About the Book

A Mirror Poem (A story that unfolds forward, then reverses back through the same events) All is well. This enchanting bedtime picture book transforms ordinary nighttime sounds into an extraordinary calming story designed to help little ones wind down after a busy day. The scrape of a sliding door. The bark of a dog. The chime of a clock. The soft call of a plover. Each sound weaves into a gentle tale that unfolds forwards, then backwards, like a mirror poem carried on the night air.

Watch as the story builds up through sounds, then gently rewinds back to peaceful silence.

Wonderful story with beautiful artwork

The media could not be loaded. As a librarian, teacher, mom (and soon to be grandma), I’m always looking for bedtime books that make great gifts. This one truly stands out.The mirror-poem structure is creative and calming. It walks children through familiar nighttime sounds and then back again into quiet, which is perfect for winding down. I like how it builds listening skills and mindfulness while naturally introducing Australian wildlife in a soft, non-didactic way. This is nice for people who don't live in Australia! With its lyrical text and thoughtful pacing, it's a great read aloud for classroom or library too. Finally, it's a breath of fresh air to find a children's book that is actually illustrated by a real artist. BONUS: there are hidden hearts for children to find! I confidently recommend this book 100% to families and teachers, and even daycares.

An engaging experience

The interplay between text and illustration makes this book feel wonderfully dynamic – the two elements work together to create a complete and engaging experience. But the most remarkable effect is the way it prompts children to ask questions. A drawing of a fox-shaped constellation led to a whole conversation: first they asked what a constellation is, then whether there are more of them. Soon enough, Ursa Minor and Ursa Major entered the discussion. The book is an easy read for children, but its greatest strength is how naturally it encourages shared reading with an adult. That’s when the wave of questions begins – and with it, the flow of curiosity and knowledge.
