A great companion for anyone planning a trip to Florence or Pistoia

I really enjoyed this book. It's detailed and written with passion, combining history, culture, and practical travel advice. The routes are well thought out, and the author shares hidden gems that make you feel like you're exploring with a local friend.

Another great guide

I keep picking up George Esperidis’s books because I really like how he writes: thorough without being boring, reads almost like historical fiction, but is facts, and always packed with tips you don’t see in regular travel guides. This one does a great job showing the big, must-see parts of Florence while also pointing you toward quiet corners, local food spots, and giving a substantial history background. Pistoia, which I probably wouldn’t have thought to visit otherwise, is now being heavily considered for our itinerary. The books feel like advice from a local friend who also happens to be a history buff.

These travel books are some of the best!

If you haven't read one of George Esperidis's books and are all all interested in traveling anywhere in the Tuscan area....you are missing out! This author does such a great job in not only describing the various sites to see in a town, in this case Florence & Pistoria, but he will give you the history lesson behind the sites, the address, how to best travel to the location, and a map of the surrounding area. He has such detail in every historical site and recommendations that he makes, it is actually quite overwhelming at times. I personally love the little hidden gems he will give you when it comes to places to eat as he will base the suggestions off of price range, and also the "You NEED to Come Here!" He also does this in all his books with suggestions on hotels & brothels in the area, so you can fit your budget. Again, if you have any desire to visit Florence, then you will want to read this book before hand as I guarantee you will have a better game plan to plan out your day, and have more appreciation for what you are seeing! Great job again George!
