About the Book

Long ago, the individual Gods gifted each of their chosen people with a portion of their power. The Gods used their chosen people to war with each other instead of interferring directly. Chief amongst these Gods were Aernus, God of the Sky. Eventually, all other Gods teamed up and directly intervened along with their chosen and warred with Aernus and his chosen. In the final battle, Aernus was able to banish himself and the others Gods permanently away from the land of men.

Before Aernus did this, he led his people to a special place on the top of the highest mountain. For hundreds of years his people exiled themselves there, in a city they called Aerlin, alone and away from the others until recently. Sixteen year old Aiden is an Ayra, one of the lowest caste of people in the City of Aerlin. Because of his classification, he is deemed to be the most expendable person they can send into the world of what the people of Aerlin now called Heretics.

An epic fantasy with dand heart

Aiden of Erlin instantly immersed me in a richly imaginative world shaped by ancient gods, battles for power, and the long exile of a forgotten people. I loved how the story balances majestic mythological legends with the very personal journey of sixteen-year-old Aiden, a boy from a lower caste who is suddenly tasked with finding out whether the legendary "heretics" still exist. The combination of world-building, tension, and Aiden's vulnerable but determined point of view made this book impossible to put down. Fans of classic epic fantasy will find both the high stakes and intimate character growth they crave.

An Exciting Read with Room for Improvement

I really enjoyed this book, and the concept is intriguing, keeping me engaged throughout. The pacing is solid, and the story is exciting, but some aspects, like the protagonist’s viewpoint, felt a bit simplistic at times. Additionally, there are some grammar issues that need correcting. Despite these minor flaws, it’s a great start to the series, and I’m definitely looking forward to the next book. If the writing tightens up and the characters develop more, it could become even more enjoyable.

Magic, Fangs, and Plenty of Sarcasm

This book is bold and unconventional. The main character is rough and stubborn, yet very relatable. His language is sharp, but he speaks honestly. The world is full of danger — vampires, weres, mages — and none of them are fairy tale creatures. It’s an easy, engaging read with lots of humor, action, and unexpected twists. If you’re looking for something edgy and a bit cheeky, this is a great pick.
