About the Book

At eighteen, Bella Hexley was forced to leave her home—and her magic—far behind. She went to law school, built a career, raised her daughter, and lived a completely normal, spell-free life. Easy… until her husband pulled the ultimate dirty trick: filed for divorce, drained their bank accounts, and somehow convinced the court she’s an unfit mother. Like, seriously?

Now she's forty, broke, blacklisted, and one mascara smear away from a full-on breakdown, Bella has no choice but to dust off her law degree and seek help in the one place she’s been told she doesn’t belong:Chicago’s Enchanted District—the Midwest’s magical capital. It’s the only place she can go to reclaim her magic and take on the legal battle that matters: fighting for her daughter. The case is messier than her ex’s Instagram lies.

Hexes, Legal Messes, and Midlife Comebacks!!

Hex in the City was exactly my kind of chaos: sharp, funny, and just witchy enough to feel dangerous. Bella Hexley, flinging spells and legal barbs while untangling her messed‑up marriage, is the sort of midlife heroine I can absolutely get behind. The mix of custody drama, magical law, and a sleazy soon‑to‑be ex made the stakes feel real without ever losing the humour. I especially enjoyed the silver‑fox lawyer with those smooth, James Bond vibes circling around all the supernatural trouble. The banter is quick, the pacing never really lets up, and the world of Chicago’s Enchanted District feels like it has plenty more secrets to reveal. As someone who loves legal tangles, paranormal weirdness, and a good revenge‑glow‑up, I tore through this and am already eyeing book two.
