If you are looking for a way to get kids or teens more excited about the Old Testament, this is it. We’ve been using this for our homeschool lessons, and it’s been a hit. The puzzles cover everything from the creation in Genesis to the walls of Jericho in Joshua.The layout is clean, the solutions are included at the back (a lifesaver!), and the different levels mean my younger kids and I can both enjoy it. It’s a great way to build Bible memory without it feeling like a chore.
A Simple, Scripture-Centered Starting Point for Kids and New Bible Readers
Bible Quest: Crossword Journey from Genesis to Joshua is a great way to introduce my 10-year-old grandson to Bible study. It introduces scripture simply, encouraging young readers to look up specific passages in the Bible to find answers. The crossword puzzles are very basic, making this a good starting point for children around his age or even for adults who are new to the Bible and want an easy on-ramp into God’s Word.The book offers a simple introduction to engaging with scripture and then becomes increasingly challenging. Chapter 1 is Milk Puzzles (easy), Chapter 2 is Meat Puzzles (moderate), and Chapter 3 is Strong Bone Puzzles (hard).The puzzles could use a bit more variety and depth, especially for teens and adults. A clearer layout, better formatting, and some refinement in presentation would go a long way toward strengthening the experience. Hopefully, the author will continue in a series with these changes in mind.
