cultural events at home

With the arrival of this book in my home, our dinners became cultural events. It redefined our relationship with food; we discovered the forbidden flavors of the East and the culinary gems of the world's peoples, the spices of the Silk Road, and various experiments with simple food. I create in the kitchen, and my guests are delighted.

lots of great and simple recipes

There are lots of great things about this cookbook. For one, it's unique. There are a ton of recipes I've never even heard of before. Two, it's also familiar, in that there are dishes I've only ever had when I've been in other countries. Three, each recipe comes with tidbits of information about the culture that food comes from--which I found to be quite interesting. And four, the recipes are fairly simple and consist of common ingredients or a simpler alternative. I definitely recommend this cookbook as a way to "spice up" meal time.
