Helped Me Find Names I Hadn’t Thought Of

I started flipping through The Book of Baby Names just to get ideas, and I was surprised by how many unique names I found that I hadn’t seen before. I liked that the meanings and origins were included, because it made choosing names feel more meaningful instead of random. I also enjoyed browsing it a little at a time rather than all at once. It’s a really handy book for parents or anyone helping pick out a special name.

Meaning, History, and Heart in One Book of Baby Names

I’ll need to pick up another copy because The Book of Baby Names is a book I’ll be getting for both of my granddaughters, just in case they decide not to use my name.Like most people do when they get a baby name book, they check to see the meaning of their own name. According to The Book of Baby Names, my name is of Irish origin and means “warrior” or “bright-headed.” It’s also listed as a unisex classic. That seems enough of a reason to me to keep it alive for another generation. My middle didn’t make the cut, however, so I’ll have to insert that one myself as a subtle hint. But regardless of whether they choose a timeless classic, a heritage name, or something more contemporary, this book provides all the background they’ll need to make the choice.
