About the Book

It’s hard to bluff when you don’t know the rules. When a dead stockbroker needs help following the breadcrumbs of his past, who does he call on? Enid Walsh, unwilling lackey of the dead. But after putting Craig the Crowbar behind bars, the last thing she expects is for Craig’s boss to show up looking for answers. A new deadly threat lurks on the horizon, forcing Enid to hatch a plan to keep herself safe, but her ghost dog runs afoul of the spirit world’s government leaders amid rising tensions.

Suddenly, Enid must find a way to keep Waffles safe, leaving her with only one option: track down her notorious ancestral witch for some magical mentoring. Between the ghost mob invading her work and the monster stalking her dreams, Enid has no time to cater to the Spirit Body’s absurd demands, but if she doesn’t find a way to mollify them, she’ll end up six feet under with no hope of return.

A fantastic second installment! Enid and Waffles completely stole my heart.

Following up on a great series debut can be tricky, but Risky Rewards builds on the world of the Shady Spirits series beautifully. If you loved watching Enid Walsh slowly (and very reluctantly) accept her ability to see and speak to the dead in the first book, you are going to love her trajectory in this one. She is no longer just a passive observer running away from her problems—she’s actively trying to figure out the rules of an incredibly chaotic spirit world.

Acehented, Twisted, and Hauntingly Entertaining

In this sequel to Dead Dorothy, dead girl turned reluctant servitor to the dearly departed Enid Walsh must not only contend with underworld mobsters, spirit world politics, and a monster from her nightmares, but she has to keep her fang-free, fiercely loyal ghost dog Waffles alive as well. Suspenseful, mysterious, and with a delightful dash of snarky sass, this paranormal urban fantasy with wit, wit, and more wit, will have readers flipping pages with wild abandon.
