About the Book

Never look a dead man in the face, no matter how blue his eyes are… Shunned by the living. Hounded by the dead. Whoever said being different was good obviously couldn’t see ghosts. Enid Walsh moved to Atlanta with simple goals. Start fresh, lay low, and avoid the dead, but when a mystical dog arrives and blue-eyed Ollie discovers her secret, Enid is forced to solve his lover’s murder. The problem? She’s a waitress, not a detective.

Murder sounds like a job for the police, until a conspiracy theorist proves the cops are on the take, leaving Enid pitted against a sadistic killer with nowhere to turn. She blames Ollie for dragging her into this mess, but she’ll need his help to avoid becoming a ghost herself. Between the massive cartel moving into the city, police corruption running rampant, and a deadly creature on the prowl, Enid and Ollie must put their heads together to survive.

Better than expected

I liked how the story mixed creepy ghost stuff with humor. Enid felt real and carcastic in a fun way

Solid Urban Fantasy with a Unique Twist

The book was a pleasant read. The plot is engaging with some unexpected turns, and the main character, Enid, feels relatable and well-developed. I appreciated how the author avoided clichés in portraying ghosts—they have their own hierarchy, rules, and even bureaucracy. The dog stands out as one of the most charismatic characters. However, the romantic subplot between Ollie and Peyton felt a bit drawn out, even if its conclusion was ultimately satisfying.Overall, this is a solid urban fantasy with an interesting world. It's an easy read that leaves you curious to know what happens next.

Gritty. Fast-paced. Darkly fun.

A kickass murder mystery that blends urban fantasy and non-stop action. First book in the Shady Spirits series, Shady Spirits: Sin on Second Street features Enid, an accidental sleuth trying to solve a drug cartel killing while dodging drug dealers, crooked cops, and an obsessed serial killer. With a healthy dose of conspiracy, nail-biting suspense, and a touch of slow-burn romance, it's part mystery, part dark humor. The perfect introduction to the Shady Spirits series for fans of supernatural crime that packs a punch.
