Feels Like Eating Out, Only Healthier
I’ve been craving the smoky, savory taste of grilled food, but restaurant versions always leave me feeling sluggish. This book gives me that same great flavor without the heavy grease or salt. The veggie skewers were bright and fresh, and the grilled salmon made me feel like I was at a fancy bistro. Honestly, I didn’t think heart-healthy could taste this indulgent, but here we are, grilling at home and loving it.
Fresh Ideas for Healthy Grilling
I picked up this cookbook on a bit of a whim when I saw the recipe for grilled mango with ginger and coconut in the table of contents. So that was the first thing I made and it was amazing, never would have come up with this exotic combo on my own. It was a nice change from the usual stuff we put on the grill (hint: it’s mostly meat and fish). The book itself offers a good range of heart-conscious recipes that veer pretty far off the usual proteins, with plenty that can be made either indoors or outdoors, which is useful if the weather doesn’t cooperate. I also like that the portions are suited for one or two people, so there’s no need to halve recipes or deal with a lot of leftovers.Don’t know about the printed versions, but the Kindle has beautiful, very appetizing photos, too. With some summer still left I’m planning to work my way through a few more of the ideas here. If you’re looking for grilling recipes that are lower in sodium and fat but still full of fresh flavor, this is worth having on hand.
Tasty, simple healthy grilling
Bought this for my Dad. The cookbook makes healthy grilling look pretty straightforward. Lots of high quality pictures, and I liked the additional tips on how to adjust the recipes while staying super healthy. Plenty of variety and the meals don't rely on excess salt or sugar. Looks like a great addition for anyone over 50 who enjoys good food and wants to keep health in mind.
