A useful book, but could be better

Of course, there are aspects of this behavioral tutorial that I don't fully agree with. But the book itself was useful; it's a fairly subtle aspect of my behavior, and I liked the information. I appreciated the specific action recommendations and texts for internal dialogue. On the other hand, I would have liked the author to cover the topic of relationships a little more broadly, because I think this book focuses too narrowly on attachment. I think if it were expanded on that topic, the book would be more relevant.

After reading, I feel calmer

I didn’t know much about attachment styles before this book, but now many things make more sense to me. It explain anxious, avoidant and disorganized styles in very simple way, easy to understand. While reading, I was thinking “oh wow, this is me” many times. The book feels supportive, not blaming. It helps you see your patterns in relationships and gives hope that you can change them. I like that it’s not too complicated or full of hard psychology words

Finally felt seen

I honestly did not expect this to hit me the way it did. I started reading it thinking it would just explain attachment styles again, but it went way deeper and way more personal than that. I kept having those moments of wow ok that is literally me, especially the parts about chasing, panicking when someone pulls away, and confusing chaos with chemistry. It felt weirdly comforting and also a little brutal in a good way.What I loved most is how practical it is. Not just theory, but actual words to use, examples of conversations, and small exercises that made me slow down and notice what my body was doing. The nervous system stuff really clicked for me. I also liked the journaling prompts, even though a couple of them made me emotional and I had to take breaks.It is pretty intense at times and not something I would binge read in one sitting, but honestly that is probably the point. This felt less like a book and more like sitting with someone who gets it and is not judging you. I finished it feeling calmer, clearer, and way less broken than when I started.
