I picked up this book because I’ve been living a mostly ketogenic diet for a few years now. I said mostly, because I’ve stepped too far off of it in the last year, and I want to get back on it and thereby again take control of my health. This book is helping me do that, because it not only simply explains what keto is and why it works, but it also provides real-world tools to help you succeed, like pantry staple lists, weekly meal plans with shopping lists, and recipes like coconut flour pancakes that make the diet feel more doable rather than restrictive. I especially appreciated the reminders about eating protein in moderation and the delineation of heart-healthy fats like avocados, nuts, and olive oil. If you're just curious about keto or like me, wanting to commit to it, this book is a helpful and encouraging start.
