Fragments of Solace - Proxima Vita
A Cyberpunk Sci-Fi Thriller, set in a dystopian Hong Kong
by Thomas Adkins
About the Book
In the rain-lashed, neon-drenched ruins of post-apocalyptic Hong Kong, Kimoni is the eyes of the powerful XIAN Corporation—a living security system in a city where human potential is a traded commodity. But when a brutal assault shatters his body and fractures his mind, the one man who sees everything is left blind. Grafted with a hypersensitive robotic arm and haunted by ghosts of a past he cannot grasp, Kimoni is dragged back from exile. His corporate masters demand he hunt for the truth.
The city's chief of Tai Kwun needs him to trace a lethal, weaponised drug tearing through the streets. Both trails converge on one place: the lawless, neon-soaked underbelly of Proxima, the Lantern District. Here, in a sanctuary of exiles and convicts where hope is a currency and despair is a product, Kimoni's only ally is a sharp-witted addict, her neck marked with the Insig of a conviction. Together, they descend into a labyrinth of political corruption, corporate espionage, and twisted transhuman science.

An Exciting Blend of Sci-Fi and Thriller.
If you enjoy cyberpunk stories, dystopian worlds, and technology-driven thrillers, this book is definitely worth checking out. A solid read that leaves you curious to see what happens next.
Cyberpunk with Heart and depth.
his book completely pulled me into its rain-soaked, neon-lit version of Hong Kong. The atmosphere is incredible—dense, oppressive, and alive with surveillance, corporate power, and danger around every corner. The world-building feels detailed and believable without ever overwhelming the story.
The Perfect Cyberpunk Vibe
Everything I want in a sci-fi book was here, including the rain, the neon lights, and a hero who is trying to do the right thing. The XIAN Corporation feels like a real villain that you want to see lose, and the stakes feel very high for everyone involved. I liked the small details, like how Kimoni's robotic arm works and the way the city smells and looks. It is a very immersive book that makes you feel like you are part of the adventure in the Lantern District.
